making your wellness our mission
The roar of a concert, waves crashing along the shoreline, friends and family reconnecting. These are the moments that define our lives and remind us why we do what we do. At Ciena Healthcare, we take great pride in providing our team members the time they need to help make these moments happen through our work/life balance benefits.
This focus on balance is just one reason why Janna Rusinovich-Sims, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, has been a valued member of our Laurels of Steubenville community since 2015. Initially joining the team as the Director of Marketing, she soon shifted towards a more hands-on leadership position as a Licensed Administrator.
This pivot empowered her to work closer with her community and accomplish even more for our residents. It’s good work, and it can be difficult work. That’s why Janna allows herself some time away from the desk – to relax, recharge and spend time with loved ones.
“PTO time is more than just ‘vacation’! It’s also a way to say, ‘I need a break.’ To tend to personal appointments, or even extra time to snuggle your babies (human and fur alike) when they aren’t feeling well.”
summer celebrations
Throughout one summer, Janna made the most of our PTO and work/life balance benefits – traveling to her son’s baseball games, catching up with family in Arizona, and crossing off a bucket list item by attending a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert. All this, plus a planned beach getaway at the North Carolina Outer Banks, made for a memorable season in the Rusinovich family.
And she never had to worry about an unexpected work meeting. “Ciena’s approach to work-life balance has given me the opportunity to enjoy every second with my young family.”
we've got your back
What makes PTO successful? How can it benefit our employees and residents alike? Much like so many other things at Ciena, it goes back to support. Cross-training our team members means that when one person is away on vacation, their usual tasks can smoothly transition to an assigned backup.
After her summer vacation, Janna didn’t return to a backlog of to-dos. Instead, it was a welcome day back in her community – where she could pick up right where she left off and get ready to do more for residents. “Time away allows me to recharge and reboot so I can come back refreshed!”
Our work/life balance benefits are part of a competitive package – one that prioritizes your health, wellness, and success. With educational support like tuition discounts, comprehensive health plans for your family and children, and employee perks like earned wage access, we’re fully committed to putting you first, so you can put residents first.
Janna is doing more than relaxing when she takes time off. She’s also acting as an example to follow, encouraging her peers as a leader to take time off, too.
Together, we can prioritize what matters most to us. Janna is making memories not just for herself, but for her family and her children, too.
“They are only this little once, so let’s make the most of it.”
