The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided to residents. This role provides direct supervision to nursing staff, assists with compliance oversight, and helps drive clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, and resident/family satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
- Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the supervision of nursing care provided by nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible.
- Assists in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interviews, recommends, hires, and trains employees.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work.
- Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration Resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge, and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
- May receive calls and find replacements or absent staff.
- Transfers employees among units as needed.
- Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
- Disciplines employees up to and including discharge.
- Adequately supervises assigned staff and assures that those staff are supervising employees assigned to them.
- Approves the correction of errors in timecards or other timekeeping records.
- Receives and resolves employee complaints.
- Determines rotation of employees within the facility.
- Monitors and corrects job performance of employees.
Requirements:
- A graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.
- Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.
- Knowledgeable in state and federal regulations governing long-term care.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current state license as a Registered Nurse to practice.
- Infection Preventionist certification preferred
- Current CPR certification or CPR certification required within 90 days of employment
