Alyssa wasn’t sure what career to pursue after high school. It was only through a friend’s suggestion that she considered joining Regency at Fremont. After all, she had no prior healthcare experience; this was just to see how things would go.
Unbeknownst to her at the time, the decision she made had the potential to greatly impact her career.

Opening up new opportunities
Following her interview, Alyssa was warmly welcomed by our Fremont community, which immediately helped her obtain a CNA license. This certification served as her gateway to the field of nursing, shedding light on the boundless opportunities she could pursue in helping others and in advancing her own career.
It didn’t take long before Alyssa started realizing her purpose. She started each shift with a goal – to make a difference in each resident’s day. “Working with the elderly showed me how impactful we can be in improving someone’s quality of life,” she said.
Reaching for greater heights
After working with our team for several years, Alyssa took the natural step of taking her skills even further. She started nursing school at Muskegon Community College, balancing her coursework while picking up whatever CNA shifts were available in her free time.
It was an overwhelming schedule at first. However, thanks to the support Alyssa received from leadership, peers, and even her residents – she was able to test for her LPN license one year into the nursing school program. It wasn’t long before she passed the NCLEX-RN exam and graduated.
The staff at Regency at Fremont were more than accommodating with my new crazy school schedule, and their support in my nursing journey meant the world to me.

Looking toward the future
Now a registered nurse on our team, Alyssa strongly encourages CNAs curious about advancing their careers to take the steps necessary to do so. Through her own experience as a CNA, she built a strong foundation of healthcare skills and teamwork – empowering her to deliver the best care possible for her residents.
